About Me


Shaye Poulton Richards is a multi-award losing chess fanatic studying contemporary classical composition in London, and working at video game studio INT./NIGHT as a designer between tournaments.

Composer, lyricist and game designer, her interests stem from a desire to tell original stories in a variety of interactive mediums. Shaye’s involvement in musical theatre has been prevalent throughout her life – from growing up in the theatre community, to being a long-standing member of the British new writing organisation Mercury Musical Developments – and she feels theatre and games share many exciting similarities, including the ability to create rich narrative landscapes, and the opportunity to evolve and explore the relationship between audience and creator at will.

Currently in her third year at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, she looks forward to spending the next year writing music under the tuition of Deirdre Gribbin, and refining her artistic voice with a focus on detail-oriented specificity and high concept.

Petal

A programmatic suite following 11-year-old Petal, her best friend Lula, and the secrets that seem to be hidden from view.

Accompanied by four hand-painted canvases, the installation was included in Rude Health: A Festival of New Music 2019 and showcased chapters from the upcoming narrative adventure game of the same name, created with artist Mia Lana. More information can be seen in the games section below.

Atmospheric percussion written for intended performance with a two-channel loop station, using a combination of aleatory, improvisation, and unconventional notation to create a textural landscape.

Another Musical Theatre Showcase

original musical theatre showcase

Three musical theatre songs written for an ensemble of 21 and performed at Laurie Grove Studios as part of a thirty-minute showcase, curated with MD Megan Cave, during CoLab Festival 2020.

The three songs featured were the opening number Another Musical Theatre Showcase, comedy solo Let Me Join Your Cult, and musical sketch Friends of Friends.

A summary of an exciting first year in the video games industry.
As Dusk Falls

Game Design Intern at

INT./NIGHT

During the summer following my first year in higher education, I began working as a game design intern at up-and-coming independent studio Interior/Night, headed by industry veteran Caroline Marchal.

I'm currently spending a second summer back at the studio, working and learning besides an incredible team as we work towards bringing our first original Xbox IP – As Dusk Falls – to life.

Music Transcriber & Beta Tester at

Dream Reality Interactive

Most recently I became a music transcriber for award-winning VR and AR studio, Dream Reality Interactive, on their newest IP – SingHeads – an AR karaoke mobile game from the team behind SingStar, in association with Snapchat.

Leading up to the games' soft launch I was a beta tester – as well as during the previous year – helping to ensure the same fantastic quality experience DRI are known for.

Star Wars & Ghost of Tsushima

Copying Assistant on

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Ghost of Tsushima

I was involved in the soundtrack recording for Respawn Entertainment's latest action-adventure game Jedi: Fallen Order, preparing scores and parts at Abbey Road Studios for the 100-piece orchestra and booth, with music composed by Gordy Haab and Stephen Barton.

Following immediately after, I worked on Sucker Punch Productions' Playstation exclusive Ghost of Tsushima, setting parts and preparing music at Abbey Road Studios for a series of sectional recordings, composed by Ilan Eshkeri and Shigeru Umebayashi.

On a personal note, I'm currently developing Petal, a 3D handmade adventure game with artist Mia Lana.

Music from the game was showcased at an exhibition in 2019 – which can be seen in the music section above – and we're so immeasurably excited to share more of our girls with you at a later date.
